| 2011 Rally update | ||
| LOOK WHAT’S GOING TO BE AT THIS YEARS RALLY....... HAY MAKING DEMONSTRATION: This will be taking place in the main ring (weather permitting) each day. The hay pole is making a welcome return to the SHVMC Rally, it has been many years since this demonstration has been shown, it will be a delight for all to watch. FORD/FORDSON SHOWCASE: This year the club will be celebrating Ford and Fordson cars, commercials and tractors. There will be an area of the rally field set aside for all to enjoy this breed of vintage vehicle. If you have a Ford vehicle and you would like to entry please contact the club. This feature is supported by the Ford Fordson Association who will be at the Rally and would be happy to recruit new members. KING OF BELGIUM: The club are very lucky to be welcoming this very special Showmans Engine for all to enjoy. There is nothing quite like the sight and sound of a Showmans engine. It is set to be a great attraction. DOG AGILITY & WEST COUNTRY SLED DOGS DISPLAYS: The club is very fortunate that the local Dog Agility group love to come to the rally to show the public their very talented dogs. They will be performing each day in the main ring. We are also very pleased to welcome the West Country Sled Dogs to the rally this year, they will also be performing in the main ring as well as setting up a hug as husky camp for people to meet the dogs close up. WORKING DEMONSTRATIONS: The main purpose of our rally is to show vintage vehicles doing what they do best...work. Throughout the weekend there will be main ring events showing working demonstrations, as well as tractors, combines and other vintage machinery working in the outer fields. WORKING HORSES: The earliest form of ploughing and tending to the fields used to be carried out by horses. Our rally is about showcasing and ensuring that methods of the past are not forgotten. With horses being the earliest form of tractor they are an important part of our rally. CHILDRENS ENTERTAINMENT: There are lots for the children to enjoy - bouncy castle, a magician, miniature steam train rides and much more. TRADE & CRAFT STANDS: As well as the vintage vehicles there is so much more to enjoy...that’s if you need more. Every year there is a wide variety of trade and craft stands and this year there promises to be more than ever. EXHIBITS OF TRACTORS, CARS, MOTORBIKES & COMMERCIAL VEHICLES: Everyday owners will display their vehicles for all to enjoy. As well as being able to get close to the exhibits there will be a parade in the main ring of each section so you can all learn more about the history of each vehicle. The approximate time of each parade will be as follows; 1pm – 2pm Ford / Fordson Tractors, Cars and Commercials 3pm – 4pm General Tractors 4pm – 5pm Cars, Commercials and Motorbikes ....AND MUCH MUCH MORE WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ALL THERE |

| The Rally | ||
| visitors will be abe to see demo's of farming practices from the 1930's and earlier. There will be a threshing rig and a racksaw bench both driven by traction engines, with a binder cutting wheat for the thresher. Heavy horses will be ploughing and working ground as will vintage and classic tractors.Ring events include a Tae-quondo display at 1.30 on sat. only, whilst on both days there will be a display by the South Hams dog agility group at 12.00 and later, Anne Williams will demonstate that the heavy horse did not have a monopoly on field working with her display of working Dartmoor ponies. There are over 100 tractors entered, along with stationary engines, military vehicles, Cars and commercial vehicles, not forgetting a large number of motorcycles. There's a large craft tent, the all important Beer tent, and around 40 trade stands entered.. Dont forget we do cater for the disabled,with a floor level toilet also suitable for wheelchairs, and if you ask on the gate disabled people can park next to the main ring.Car park is free and the entry a very modest £4 for Adults and £1 for kids |

| Rally preparations | ||
| The organising of thr 2006 Rally is well under way, albeit with a few problems. The Committee has attended a health and safety course and had a risk assessment done in conjunction with WHS health and safety practitioneers. The results were largely in line with previous years requirements although a nunber of thing needed altering slightly. It has been decided that no horses or horse-drawn vehicles will allowed in the tented area of the site, only in the working area. All working exhibits will be behind orange safety netting or wire netting rather than ropes, and the public will no longer be able to mingle with working tractors in the working area. There are many other small detailed points which we hope will not spoil your enjoyment of the Rally, after all , we run the rally for your and our enjoyment. Hope to see you there !! |
